Mischievous, marvellous merrymakers 36? have taken a psych-pop aesthetic and turned the volume up to 11 with their brand of off-the-wall gems and jams. The songs rattle and shake like a train about to come off the tracks, but are somehow reigned in just as your party pulls into the station. - https://www.sledisland.com/2017/36
The sentiment of folk-punk meets the artifice of synth-pop to ride an atmospheric wave of dark time. Dark Time is the artistic material Cayley O'Neill uproots from her dreams and nightmares. O’Neill’s music explores themes of love, addiction and mental health with unnerving honesty and a sense of twisted humour. In 2016, O’Neill joined forces with keyboardist Eric Heitmann (Speed Strips/Holgans/Purple Ryan) and guitarist Claudia Maria (The Sweets) to form Dark Time. In 2018, they brought Mathieu Blanchard on board to record drums for their first EP. They will release an EP produced by Chris Dadge in the Summer of 2018.
High Parade play music for the tragic romantic with indie pop sensibilities and shoegaze overtones, music worthy of Twin Peak's Roadhouse. Members consist of stalwarts Aaron Smelski (Hot Little Rocket) and Jonathan Pynn (Heat Ray), Halifax ex-patriot, Lucien Lahey (Conversations with Bears) as well as all-ages scene graduates Jesse McWilliams (Cops) and Sheila Kulyk (Executioner's Daughter). High Parade are set to record with Godfather/producer Lorrie Matheson in 2018.
