Mischievous, marvellous merrymakers 36? have taken a psych-pop aesthetic and turned the volume up to 11 with their brand of off-the-wall gems and jams. The songs rattle and shake like a train about to come off the tracks, but are somehow reigned in just as your party pulls into the station. - https://www.sledisland.com/2017/36
Mario Castronuovo and Mike Malkin co-founded Funkensheist in 2011 in Calgary, Alberta. With Mike’s experience playing bass in the now defunct Kronic Groove Band, and Mario’s growing interest in funk and soul, the pair began jamming together to create a "new" classic funk influenced sound. Finding inspiration through a mutual respect and admiration of funk’s finest musicians, the duo allowed creativity to flow and they both developed an insatiable desire to start producing their very own breed of funk music. Soon a deeply grimy and soul filled style began to evolve… a style which was appropriately dubbed “The Sheist”.
