THICK

High-octane power trio THICK returns to Sled Island in support of new album Happy Now. Like all the best music from THICK — see also “Your Mom” and “Love You Forever” — the record is bursting with choruses, slam-dance riffs and breakneck drums. Beyond the rush of the instrumentals, there comes a bittersweetness in the lyrics and gang vocals that temper a sweaty good time with intimacy.

Barnacle

The spirit of ‘60s surf cinema gets a garage-punk facelift via Barnacle and its hazy blend of power-chord rush, spacey vocals, and pointed melodies. After shredding through a slew of Eastern Canada festival appearances in 2022, this four-piece party machine makes western landfall with its first Sled Island appearance.

Earth Freaks

Earth Freaks strike with contagious psych-rock energy. Simultaneously carefree and precise in approach, the quartet cruises atop driving rhythms and desert-tinged riffs. Explosive live shows bring it all to life, offering an invitation to float beyond current reality and into a space untethered by time.

Wack

Conjuring elements of absurdity and punk-rock sentiment, Wack is a local power trio harnessing raw power and emotion in a digestible, accessible package. Featuring anthemic sing-alongs, distorted power chords and loosey-goosey harmonies soaring above bombastic drum beats, Wack is music for all occasions — the bedroom, parking lot or the stage.
