Marlaena Moore
Perennial Sled Island favourite Marlaena Moore will be back for her first appearance since releasing 2020’s Pay Attention, Be Amazed! (and its later “stripped sessions” companion). Known for an achingly beautiful voice anchored by sometimes-skeletal arrangements, Moore’s recent releases show a little more studio wizardry thanks to production by Chad VanGaalen and Chris Dadge. – https://www.sledisland.com/2022/marlaena-moore

Lovelet
Soft boiled rock, pop hooks, slow jams and layers of haze.

VICTRIX
Springing forth from the mind of vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Micky Jane. While her earliest forays into performance and songwriting existed within the acoustic, singer-songwriter realm, the music of VICTRIX turns all this on its head, instead connecting the dots between bedroom folk, chamber pop, and the darker side of dream pop. The band deftly weaves together the more confessional side of classic songwriting with a strong penchant for synths, drum machines, and tastefully deployed melodic ornamentation, betraying an abiding interest in the granular details of songcraft and arrangement. The result is refreshingly original, very much inhabiting its own particular sonic universe while finding parallels with fellow idiosyncratic songsmiths like Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, and PJ Harvey.
