Eraser
Featuring members of Amanda X and opening for bands like Control Top, Eraser has quickly become one of Philly’s most in-demand and vital punk bands. Their chopped-up stew of no wave bounce and post-punk twang shines through their bite-sized debut video “Simon Says,” a shivering stop-motion synth-punk party heralding whatever comes next.
Computer
This seven-piece band — originally consisting of just Ben Lock and Hudson Schlesny — has a full-bodied, sumptuous take on jazzy post-punk. Their debut single, “Weird New Vocation,” is a rollercoaster of rollicking rhythms and a smidge of atonal dissonance, like a sheened-up Black Midi. Bands this new and exciting are what Sled Island is all about!
Parisian Orgy
Originally a solo project, this now seven-piece supergroup (featuring members of Sunglaciers, Uncanny Valley, and Sub / / Cell) creates silly art-rock that’s a brand all its own. Parisian Orgy has previously been described as “slapstick synth pop” and “cabaret meets Pee-wee Herman,” basically demanding that you experience it for yourself.
CAT PISS
Formed in July of 2023, CAT PISS has gripped the local music scene by the scalp with its unfiltered and freakish take on experimental synth punk. Atonal guitars and primal drum beats accompany the cries of yowler-in-chief Amy Moore. If you missed their scorching set opening for Soul Glo last year, now’s your chance.
