Grimelda

Grimelda has elevated beyond Earth-bound terms like “time-signature” and “tempo.” In their place, the Saskatoon art-punk duo fills venues with pinballing arrangements that rebound in unpredictable angles. Simultaneously precise and unhinged, calculated and chaotic, Grimelda is an auditory enigma that exists outside of our mortal plane.

Soul Mates

Made up of members of Adolyne and Hidrangea, Soul Mates present a melodic take on classic hardcore with hollered vocals and riffs for days. The group’s dynamism is showcased expertly on double-single “Not Found,” where “A Pointed Quiet” shows off the band’s furious side, and “Calm During the Storm” features the band’s more-patient mastery of mood.

Chunder Buffet

Chunder Buffet is a frenzied food fight of stomping riffs and hedonistic attitude. On Lemon Sleazy, the band pens a sinister love letter to trashy glamour with wailing feedback and unnerving bass lines. 2023 has seen the band roar back to life and bring strutting style back to mosh pits across the prairies.

Grey Light District

It’s always impressive when three instruments can make so much damn noise. It’s an interesting blend of noise, too; a touch of disheveled prog with confrontational vocals that might send one back to the screamo scene of the early aughts. With members of KEN Mode, the Moas, and the New Jacobin Club, Grey Light District brings the finest rock ‘n’ roll Saskatchewan has to offer.
