The Wesleys

Concocting a blissfully eclectic assemblage of ‘60s garage pop, ‘70s guitar riffage and ‘90s DIY style, The Wesleys are an absolute breath of fresh air. Driving, uptempo rock numbers featuring jangly, fuzzy guitar arpeggios and melodic vocal sweeps are abundant on the 2022 EP Outside Voices.

Cinema Hearts

Caroline Weinroth channels the highs and lows of Miss America pageantry into Cinema Hearts, a bubbly explosion of irresistible power-pop. The former Miss Virginia contender wields grungy hooks and breezy melodies to capture gritty glamour on 2022 debut EP Your Ideal, which was produced by Sled Island 2023 guest curator Bartees Strange.

Dump Babes

Dump Babes weave between dance-happy disco romps and moments of floating psych-rock bliss. Above driving drums and prairie dusted guitars, vocalist Aurora Wolfe soars with purpose, delivering on themes of identity, rejecting commodified stereotypes of Indigeneity and “embracing her status as a full-time dirtbag.”

Matt MacNeil & The Geeks

The solo project of one-half of Hogtown duo Homer, Matt MacNeil would sound at home on any campus playlist — and every Canadian indie-rock club stage. It’s rock for nice, thoughtful Pete Yorn-people, with melodies and vocals ready and eager to engage on any and every level.
