Still Depths
This Calgarian three-piece has displayed considerable versatility across four singles, from the reverb-drenched, spacey “Aglow,” to the elements of noise present on the scrappy track “Hey (Hey Hey).” A unifying element throughout these releases is the group’s propensity for cathartic, satisfying breakdowns, which translates into a vicious live perform. – https://www.sledisland.com/

DA’AT
Like a mix between a contemporary Sacred Bones band and a sweaty underground act from ‘80s Manchester, DA’AT is all jittering bass, wrenching vocals and nervous urgency. Its first few tracks so far show the band using the flattened drum machine sounds of early Jesus and Mary Chain alongside needlework guitar that duels with skronking sax. Though a newer act in Calgary, the band is making a strong start as one to watch. – https://www.sledisland.com/2022/daat

Bridgeland
A new project from local players Chris Zajko, Matt Pahl, Danny Baker, Tomas Lobos and Aria Janzen, Bridgeland has released just a few snippets from its jam space so far. What we’ve gleaned, though, is that this dependable crew is exploring a vibrant intersection of post-punk and space rock with Zajko’s vocals — which you may recognize from Melted Mirror and Sharp Ends — at the fore. – https://www.sledisland.com/2022/bridgeland
