OUR DIY STYLE MEANS OUR GANG OF OG FRIENDS HAVE HAD 2 LEARN IT THE HARD WAY, BUT JOKES ON THEM CUZ WE WEAR HELMETS. & WITH THE SUPPORT OF OUR FRIENDS, WE LIT OUR HEELS ON FIRE. WHILE OTHERS MIGHT RUN OUT OF BREATH, WE KEEP RUNNING ON BARE FOOTED. WE BREWED BEER IN A CUSTOM SELF-MADE SYSTEM WE KEPT IN A ONE-CAR GARAGE, && NOW WE’RE MAKING MORE & MORE. WE TALKIN, BEER, POP, PIZZA, NEWS. PUNK ROOTS / PINTS OF BEER. WE’VE BEEN IN THE SCENE LONG ENOUGH TO LEARN THINGS THE HARD WAY, WITH HEAVENLY HIGHS AND HELLISH LOWS, BUT NOW THAT WE’VE SEEN IT ALL, WE’RE DOING THE PUNK DIY THING LIKE PROS.

Tyra Sanderson (CJSW)
Tyra Sanderson has been highly involved in Calgary’s arts and culture sector for as long as she can remember. She has since developed this childhood passion for the arts into a career in the Calgary music industry, and has integrated herself with the community over the last 10 years of her career. Tyra is currently the Executive Assistant at Music Calgary, assisting in the operations of the organization. She is a longtime host, volunteer and board member at CJSW 90.9FM, Calgary’s only campus and community radio station. From 2020 to 2023, she worked as CJSW’s Program Director and engaged with the local music scene on a daily basis, building connections that have lasted throughout her career. In 2023, she worked with the National Campus and Community Radio Association to coordinate a conference in Calgary. This conference saw over 100 delegates from across Canada and exposed many to new music from Calgary. She has been involved with a number of local festivals as both a staff member and volunteer. She worked as Artistic administrator for Calgary Folk Music Festival 2024, organizing hospitality and transportation for musicians performing at the festival. She has worked as Production Assistant and Social Media coordinator for East Town Get Down for the past two years, and has been a part of the Sled Island selection committee since 2022. Outside of her professional life, Tyra has been a committed patron of the local music scene since she was 16, attending shows and showing her support wherever she can.
